After watching last night’s Australian Idol, I was rather disappointed as Courtney Murphy didn’t get a place in the Australian Idol grand final, performing at Sydney’s Opera House. The two finalists that made it were Anthony Callea and Casey Donovan. Here are my two cents worth point of view on the Australian’s verdict:
Most of the voters I assumed are young teenagers who are girls (obviously) and most of them think that Anthony’s cute and hot, which I don’t quite agree (he’s quite short too). Every time he goes on stage, most of the girls seem to go wild!! Although I do admit that he can sing pretty well, but still, not as good and talented as Courtney. So basically, I guess he’s getting most of the votes because of his looks rather than his skills, as he sings out of tune sometimes.
As for Casey, I think the judges this year are slighly bias as I feel that they wanted a female finalist so badly. When James and Andrew asked the judges who they thought it would be between Anthony and Courtney. Only Dicko gave an answer, the other two couldn’t stop blathering about how great it was that Casey was through! It was as if they basically said as long as she was there, they couldn’t care less who the other one was! Lastly, the other reason I think she got so many votes is because she’s the youngest contestant being only 16.
Courtney Murphy should be the Australian Idol for the year 2004. Courtney!! You rocks!!

i dont really watch any ‘idol’ either. dont know why i dont really like it. i cant take it even more after the whole william hung incident.

australlian idol? that sounds cool, i’m sorry that the person you were cheering for didn’t make it. there must be good people in the finals though!

Some of the people on these shows do have some amazing voices, but I do agree, not always do the best voices get through. I remember here there was a programme like Aussie Idol and this person basically shouted in a monotone voice and went through :S

Hi, I totally agree that Courtney should have won Idol. The guy is a class above the rest. He has an official website and fan forum for anyone wanting to listen to all his MP3′s of the songs he sang on Idol. Some video clips as well and a photo gallery.
