Not True

The post I made about Strange Fish washed up at Phuket after the Tsunami was apparently not true but a hoax. The following is quoted from Dennis:

First of all, a tsunami would only sweep the fish closest to the shore and not these deep sea variety. Second, it seemed like a typical Internet ‘hoax’ for lack of a better term. I nearly e mailed Barbara over at Snopes.com about it but figured (again rightly) that something would turn up regarding it. It took all of about 24 hours:

Origins: It seems like any unusual or remarkable photographs connected with oceanic phenomena are being attributed to the Indian Ocean tsunami of December 2004, and this collection of pictures is more of the same.
Although they are genuine images of some rather strange deep-sea creatures, these photographs have nothing to do with the Indian Ocean tsunami. They date from mid-2003 and were taken as part of the NORFANZ voyage, a joint Australian-New Zealand research expedition conducted in May-June 2003 to explore deep sea habitats and biodiversity in the Tasman Sea. These photographs can be viewed on Australia’s National Oceans Office web site.
Really, John. You should be way more skeptical of this stuff…

I guess it’s pretty gullible and naive of me to believe whatever that’s being forwarded to me in the e-mails. Many of us I’m sure fall into these kind of pranks and isn’t it scary that it makes us realised how we can be easily deceived.

Trust is so hard to build in the society nowadays but nevertheless, so easibly betrayed.

Even if it is a hoax, majority of us got to see some pictures of sea creatures we’d probably never have the chance to see at all.
