I attended the first City Nits in Perth today at Borders today. This event was organised by both Helen and Ann of Knitting Inspirations. It has been quite some time since I last attended a SnB event therefore, I really enjoyed myself today.

I have met both Helen and Ann before, as well her lovely daughters, Lynette and Lydia. The other lady that I got to know today is Nerice. She is so quick with her hands and she knitted so fast!! All of them knit the proper way, as in with the way they hold their yarns and needles. I’m practically the odd one out that holds the yarns and needles in a weird way :-P.

While sipping my cup of caramel latte from Gloria Jeans, I also learned something new today from Ann and because of her, I managed to seam up Momo’s coat using the mattress stitch :yuck:!! I finally conquered seaming up :-D!!! Thanks you so much Ann!!! You’re such a great teached .

Now that I’ve finished seaming the coat, the next thing I’m going to work on is the back band and the legs band!! Woo hoo!! Hopefully I’ll be able to finish this soon as I’ve got so many other things that I want to knit!!! Knit faster!! Knit faster!! :yell: :yell:

Way to go Michelle…..!!!
Ohhhh, I’m excited to know that there is a ‘knitting in public’ thing in Perth. Is it going to be a regular thing? I am moving to Perth in December and would love to hook up with a few fellow knitters.
You are learning so much so quickly. I love how you ‘throw’ yourself into whatever you are doing. Your yummy food pictures sent me on a search for more Japanese food. Mmmm!
Momo’s coat is nearly done. Can’t wait to see it on him. Don’t rush it. Enjoy every stitch of whatever project your’re working on.
I’m forever thinking too far ahead and need to take my own advice and slow myself down.:laidback:
You must have had so much fun at Borders. Knitting with friends and meeting new ones. Don’t you just love when someone shows you something that is so valueable. I know I do. Like how to knit socks! The struggles I went through before that…let’s just say I made elephant socks.LOL
Great pics, Michelle. My girls & I also enjoyed the session & seeing you again. Great job on Momo’s coat. Looking forward to the next session in Aug & seeing what you will be knitting next?
Hi Michelle looks like you had a great time  Well Ive come to the conclusion today that I will never be a fantastic knitter , I think I’m more suited to crochet - Happys jumper was a nightmare :grr: Im going to crochet it rather than knit it - Momos looks fantastic :heart:
That looks like such fun! And to get something productive done when you are being sociable is the best kind of way to get stuff done. Congrats on conquering seaming!
I saw about the knitting day on another blog!! Isn’t mattress stitch excellent?? I love it, it makes sewing up perfect. Momo’s coat is looking fantastic!!
Mattress stitch is the best, I wish that I had learnt it years ago. Wouldn’t it be great if we could all meet up and knit one day:-)
How do you hold your needles? I throw my yarn which is a no no too:frown: as in I let go of my rh needle to put the yarn around the needle. I just have never been able to manage to still keep hold of my rh needle:blank: and I have been knitting for a very long time!!
Wow, when did Perth get a Borders? I’ve been gone for quite a few years (since 1997, visted in 2003) so I guess things change.
