It has been an exciting week. We went to quite a few open houses, met with real estate agents and we found a house we quite like. Not telling you where yet until everything is finalised. We put down our offer and two days later, we were told that the owners accepted our offer. Yay!!!
I’m excited yet scared at the same time. Well, first of all, it is a very huge investment. Actually, it’s the biggest investment in my life, in our lives!!! It’s a very big first step!! We wanted to buy a house together before we get married (erm…yeah…maybe wedding bells are ringing but definitely not within the next 12 months). Owning your own house is definitely much better than renting!! Renting sucks big time!!! But of course, you pay much much more having your own house compare to renting but at least IT’S YOUR OWN HOUSE!!
I am very much looking forward to the settlement date. We’ve hand in all the paperworks now so we’re just waiting for finance approval. It’s the waiting game. When the day arrive, it’s also the day where we lock ourselves in debt for the next 30 years????
I guess we’ll just have to work work work and pay pay pay. It’ll definitely be hard the first few years but I hope we’ll be able to manage. Sometimes, I wonder how did our parents manage to do all that? I remember when I was young, my dad took us (my mum, sis and I) to look at the display house. All of us will be shouting in excitement, I like this house, this is my room, etc. One year later down the road, we start packing and move to the new house!! It was easy peasy!!
Now that I’m in that situation of buying my own house, I find it so so hard. Not only we have to decide on where, but also the condition of the house, new or established house, which bank to borrow from, what sort of loan, fixed or variable rate, and the list goes on. I was actually pretty stressed out. Probably that’s why I wasn’t in the mood to blog. Too much on my mind, too much uncertainties and yet decisions have to be made.

Congrats in having your own house!
Good luck with your house!
In Australia, is it very hard to buy a house at a young age?
Here in England it would be very difficult for someone in their early twenties to buy a house, as the prices are very high at the moment - many people would need a loan of about 10 times their annual salary, which isn’t actually allowed by the banks, so they just live at home with their parents, or rent a house instead. Of course it is a bit easier if you have a partner though.
hehee..q uite excitign stage of your life!
