Almost There

We are one step closer now to owning our 1st home. Our loan application has been approved. Yay!!! :-D Now is the waiting game for settlement which should be around end of September. That’s about in 4 weeks time for us to get ready in terms of packing!! Anyone wanna lend a hand when we move?? Hehe.

We have also been looking at furnitures almost every week. As we do not have a sofa at the moment, I guess we will be looking around for one. I’ve no idea whether to get the Modular 1 piece or a 2 piece (3 seater and 2 seater). Also, is it true that for Chinese custom that the newly-wed couple has to have a new bed?? Does that apply to mattress only or the whole bed set plus the frame?? Hmm…we’re not getting married yet…not even next year. I guess we’ll have to buy another bed then?? :dead:

Gosh. Every thing cost money. You have no idea how much it cost to buy a house. It’s so hard to save money but it’s so easy to spend them!! Aaaah!!! I want more money!!! :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

Yarp! I love IKEA stuff. You know, the IKEA store in Singapore sells photoframes that measures 11cm X 18cm… and they are sold in a pack of 4 at about $4~$5, means each of them costs a mere $1! I buy loads of them (about 30 at the start of this year)… I used them to make customised special birthday cards in photoframes for my friends and also teacher’s day greetings (teacher’s day is tomorrow)

And the furnitures at my home in Malaysia, loads of them come from IKEA too! The furnitures are simply cool, stylish yet affordable.

That’s what I have been saying lately, “I need more money” to pay the balance on our countertops and for the sink. None of it can be installed until I pay in full. Plus money for other remodeling kitchen things. I know how you feel on your first home. We just bought ours also about 4 to 5 yrs ago. We didn’t go for any of the upgrades because it’s a whole lot cheaper to do it yourself later on. Do them a little at a time over the years. Hope you show photos of your new home!! Very exciting news!

Hi, Congrats on your new House. There’s an IKEA at Richmond on FreeWay 30; which is the only in Victoria and it is well stocked. You can arrange for delivery too if you need it.

The prices of houses has indeed gone up in the last 5 years. With the RBA tipped to increase interest rate once more before the end of 2006, it is wise to go for a 2 year fixed rate if you can find one. I think CBA is pretty good with home loans. Good Luck!
