Sneak Peak

I know that I’m meant to be seaming up for both my bolero and the sweater. Well, I did seam up one sleeve for the bolero but then I’ve got nothing to knit while I get on the train every day. That’s a bit boring for me, not doing anything!!

Toe Up

Therefore, I came up with a splendid idea. :left: I cast on for my first pair of socks yesterday and I’m doing it toe up!!! |-) The only hiccup that I have at the moment is that I cast on 30 sts, and increased 4 sts for each round. Therefore, I end up having 62 sts now when I’m supposed to have 60 sts? I guess 2 sts will not make a huge difference :yuck: . I’m using the magic loop method as you can see my 2.5 mm Addi Turbo needles.

I took a photo of it using my phone camera this morning (that’s why it’s a little bit blurry) as I’m definitely too excited about this!! I used the Knitty Magic cast-on method and it really isn’t that hard. Now I just can’t wait to knit it until the heel part. Still not too sure how I’m suppose to do the heel yet.

I enjoy knitting socks, but use 5 DPN’s and haven’t yet tried a toe up. I’m a bit trepiditious about trying the provisional cast on or magic cast on, so for now I’ll stick to top down socks.

The heel will knit itself if you just follow the instructions and don’t think about it too much.

You’ll never go back once you knit a sock Michelle, and the yarns looks nice too.

Your parcel is on it’s way, I’ve emailed you the details. Hope you like it.

Looking good! :) Good on you for magic looping, I can’t get the rhythm going with magic loop. All the best for your first sock! And don’t worry, the heel would be pretty much the same as the way you do the toe.

Can’t get the email thro’ so this is the other option - cast off the sock in the same st (if purl, then cast off in purl, vice versa). Do use a bigger size needle (3.25mm) so that the cast off is loose. I am sure I will get to see a finished sock tomorrow.
