Double Stuck

Firstly, I finally finished my 1st Jaywalker sock but guess what. I tried to put it on and uh oh!! :yell: I cant pull the heel part of the sock onto my heel!!! It’s too freaking tight!!! The leg section and the cuffs were ok. It’s the freaking heel!!! Why oh why???? After working so hard on the sock, I cant even wear it??

I wasn’t about to give it up. I pulled and I pulled and I pulled. I manage to put the sock on after two minutes of struggling with it. It look so nice!!! But, why is it so hard to wear it? It was also hard to take it off. So, I’ve decided to give it to my friend, Victoria, who managed to wear it without as much problem as I did. Can those sock experts out there, give me some advise as to how to knit the next sock that will surely fit me?? Please???? :yell: :yell: :yell:

Secondly, I’m stuck at my Leo. Currently knitting the back and I’ve just reached the shoulder shaping part. As I’ve read from many blogs that short row shoulder is the way to go (I’ve never done short row shoulder before), I would really appreciate it if I can get some pointers as to whether I am able to use the short row shoulder method on Leo.

I got a little confuse at this section:

Shape shoulders and back neck
Right shoulder:
Row 1 [RS]: BO 6[7, 7, 8, 8] sts, work to last 5 sts, k2tog, k3.
Rows 2 and 4 [WS]: P3, p2tog, work to end.
Row 3 [RS]: BO 6[7, 7, 8, 9] sts, work to last 5 sts, k2tog, k3.
Row 5 [RS]: BO 7[7, 8, 9, 9] sts, work to last 5 sts, k2tog, k3.
Row 6 [WS]: Work even in patt as set.
Row 7: BO rem 7[8, 8, 9, 9] sts in patt.

How do I apply short row shoulder to that? Many thanks for those who are willing to help. :frown:

Lastly, I was tagged my Claudine for the five favourite blogs meme but it has taken me a very long time to do this meme as it is really hard to list just five blogs when I do visit heaps and heaps of blogs daily. |-)

  • 2paw – I love visiting Cindy’s blog and read about her knitting, her lovely labradors, and lots of other interesting things. Most of all, her love for green ;)
  • 1morerow – Ann is a very experienced knitter and I love seeing her FOs. She’s a very quick knitter too!!! Her FOs never failed to impress me
  • Knitting Box – Claudine is a really crafty person. She can knits and she can even sew too!! Wish I’m as good as her one day!! :yuck:
  • Tiennie Knits – As I’ve recently picked up sock knitting, I love seeing Tiennie’s beautiful socks. They are always so pretty and so fitting too!!! I wonder why is my 2nd sock so screw up :o uch:
  • Random Knits – I’ve always love visiting Donna’s blog. May it be her cute little bunny, her beatiful and gorgeous dance costumes that she sew for her dearest daughter, or her amazing lace knitting too!!!

Well, that’s it for the five favourite blogs. For those of you who are not listed up there, please do not despair. That doesn’t mean you’re not one of my favourites. If you’re listed on my links page, you are my favourites!!!

I’m flattered to be on your list! :D

Too bad about the sock… I have read about other people who have made the jaywalkers and found them too tight around the heel/ankle too. I’m not a sock expert or anything :) , but you might be able to modify the pattern a bit so that it will fit you. Basically you just need to make the heel area larger. Since you’re knitting the sock toe-up, perhaps you can start the increases for the heel a bit earlier than in the pattern, and increase a few more stitches. Maybe that will work?

Thanks for the link to my blog! You are too kind! I agree with what Claudine says about the heel.

I haven’t knitted the jaywalker, nor have I knitted a toe up sock, so am not sure how to fix your problem. I guess it would be the reverse of picking up more stitches after knitting the heel flap, so that you have a wider and longer instep piece.
I love visiting Donna’s blog too.

I had a similar problem with the jaywalkers, although I did mine cuff down… I had to start over and use the larger size instructions.

    What a list.
Ummm Jaywalkers. I think this is one of the reasons I must be putting off making a pair. I have heard too many people having problems with theirs. The ones that do finish a pair love them though, so it might be worth it.

the last time I had a pair that was too tight, I put baby powder on first. They slipped on nicely!
