I’ve been wanting to knit a cardigan for myself for quite some time now but I’m a little impatient. Therefore, I thought to myself, something knitted with bulky yarns and big needles will be quick. Dig in my stash and looked up the patterns in my que and ah ha!! BINGO!!

Pattern: Buttony Sweater
Yarn: 6.5 skeins of Patons Soft Haze
Needles: 5.5 mm, 6 mm and 8 mm
I really enjoyed knitting with this yarn. It is so soft and light!! Anyway, I didn’t make any moficiations to the pattern and since it’s not really a pattern pattern, it’s more of a formula on how to knit a top down cardigan. In case anyone of you are interested, here’s the way I knitted it, step by step:
Cast on 96 sts using 6 mm
Knit using 5.5 mm
Slip sts as if to knit
Buttonholes – every 10th row, start from Row 7, Row 17, etc.
Split at Row 41 – 138 sts
Work until after 10 buttonholes – Row 107
Work in 2 x 2 rib until Row 124, including 2 more buttonholes
Bo using 8 mm
Sleeves
Pick up 45 sts + 6 sts = 51 ssts
Decrease every 8th row, starting from Row 2, Row 10, until Row 34 = 31 sts
Dec 1 more st on Row 42 = 40 sts
Knit until Row 84
Work in 2 x 2 rib until Row 98
Bo using 8 mm

It is very comfy and warm. Can’t wait for the weather to be a lot cooler!! However, I don’t think it will be warm enough for winter though

I really love the Buttony sweater, it’s so versatile and you can use any yarn you like! It’s all a matter of numbers. I also really like the assymmetric opening.
Anyway, it looks really great! Love the pink.
What a surprise! Haha…
