When I found out that a dear friend of mine was pregnant, I knew I had to make another Baby Surprise Jacket for the little baby. Somehow, knitting this little jacket has become a tradition for me, unconsciously.
As she’s not finding out the sex of the baby, I had to knit something that’s unisex in colour. She finally gave birth to a healthy little baby girl last month and I’m so happy for them.

Pattern: Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmermann
Yarn: 2.5 skeins of Bella Baby Sprinkle
Needles: 4 mm
I’ve been told that the jacket has been worn plenty of times!!!

Love that little jacket. I knitted one last year but it does not look as good as yours. I was not happy with it & did not bother to put any buttons on. It’s hiding some where.

Hmm..did you follow the cheat sheet that I gave you? It should turn out just like mine if you did?
Hi Val,
This jacket is knitted in garter stitch. Meaning it’s using “knit” stitch on both the right and wrong side
. That’s why you only get to see the bumps and not the “V” stitches.
I have 3 more friends who are pregnant!!! Many more BSJs to come!!!!!
Ohhh that’s right — I’ve been told I have a sweater with the sleeves in this stitch lol, I love it!!
