Easy Baby Cardigan

Please do not jump to any conclusions when you saw the title  . Firstly, sorry for the lack of post. Knitting has been a pretty slow progress and I’ve been lazy. Mum is staying with me at the moment and she’ll be here for another few more weeks. Love it when she’s around :) . Everyday I get to eat really nice and yummy food!! And I don’t have to cook too, especially after coming home from work!! Mum’s the BEST!!

A few weeks ago, I finished knitting a little baby hoodie for Sophie. This is the second pattern that I’ve ever knitted for babies apart from the BSJ. Thank God it’s quite an easy pattern too, no seams, and it’s knitted from the top down. Lastly, I’m just glad it fits her well. I don’t have a photo of her modelling the cardigan. So hopefully, her parents will take a nice photo of her wearing the cardigan one day :) .

Easy Baby Cardigan

Pattern: Easy Baby Cardigan by Diane Soucy
Yarn: 1.25 skeins of Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 10 ply in Leaf
Needles: 4.5 mm

Finally I can do a few loads of laundry and hang them in the clothes line since it’s not going to rain the next few days. Yippee!!

Buttony Sweater

I’ve been wanting to knit a cardigan for myself for quite some time now but I’m a little impatient. Therefore, I thought to myself, something knitted with bulky yarns and big needles will be quick. Dig in my stash and looked up the patterns in my que and ah ha!! BINGO!!

Buttony Sweater

Pattern: Buttony Sweater
Yarn: 6.5 skeins of Patons Soft Haze
Needles: 5.5 mm, 6 mm and 8 mm

I really enjoyed knitting with this yarn. It is so soft and light!! Anyway, I didn’t make any moficiations to the pattern and since it’s not really a pattern pattern, it’s more of a formula on how to knit a top down cardigan. In case anyone of you are interested, here’s the way I knitted it, step by step:

Cast on 96 sts using 6 mm
Knit using 5.5 mm
Slip sts as if to knit
Buttonholes – every 10th row, start from Row 7, Row 17, etc.
Split at Row 41 – 138 sts
Work until after 10 buttonholes – Row 107
Work in 2 x 2 rib until Row 124, including 2 more buttonholes
Bo using 8 mm

Sleeves
Pick up 45 sts + 6 sts = 51 ssts
Decrease every 8th row, starting from Row 2, Row 10, until Row 34 = 31 sts
Dec 1 more st on Row 42 = 40 sts
Knit until Row 84
Work in 2 x 2 rib until Row 98
Bo using 8 mm

Acton

This is a very belated birthday present from me to Victoria. Since the past few years, I’ve always knitted something for her birthday. This year is not an exception either. She requested for a cropped cardigan in pink colour. Let’s just say I just found the perfect pattern and yarn.

Acton

Pattern: Acton
Yarn: 4.3 balls of Patons Washed Haze Aran
Needles: 4 mm and 5 mm

This is the second time I’ve knitted something designed by Norah Gaughan. I’m beginning to fell in love with her designs. They’re always so stylish and the constructions of the garment is so unique!!! And most importantly, it’s not difficult to knit at all!! I really love this cardigan and it is quite hard to part with it now!!! Especially when it is in my favourite colour as well? And it fits me too??
