Double Stuck

Firstly, I finally finished my 1st Jaywalker sock but guess what. I tried to put it on and uh oh!! :yell: I cant pull the heel part of the sock onto my heel!!! It’s too freaking tight!!! The leg section and the cuffs were ok. It’s the freaking heel!!! Why oh why???? After working so hard on the sock, I cant even wear it??

I wasn’t about to give it up. I pulled and I pulled and I pulled. I manage to put the sock on after two minutes of struggling with it. It look so nice!!! But, why is it so hard to wear it? It was also hard to take it off. So, I’ve decided to give it to my friend, Victoria, who managed to wear it without as much problem as I did. Can those sock experts out there, give me some advise as to how to knit the next sock that will surely fit me?? Please???? :yell: :yell: :yell:

Secondly, I’m stuck at my Leo. Currently knitting the back and I’ve just reached the shoulder shaping part. As I’ve read from many blogs that short row shoulder is the way to go (I’ve never done short row shoulder before), I would really appreciate it if I can get some pointers as to whether I am able to use the short row shoulder method on Leo.

I got a little confuse at this section:

Shape shoulders and back neck
Right shoulder:
Row 1 [RS]: BO 6[7, 7, 8, 8] sts, work to last 5 sts, k2tog, k3.
Rows 2 and 4 [WS]: P3, p2tog, work to end.
Row 3 [RS]: BO 6[7, 7, 8, 9] sts, work to last 5 sts, k2tog, k3.
Row 5 [RS]: BO 7[7, 8, 9, 9] sts, work to last 5 sts, k2tog, k3.
Row 6 [WS]: Work even in patt as set.
Row 7: BO rem 7[8, 8, 9, 9] sts in patt.

How do I apply short row shoulder to that? Many thanks for those who are willing to help. :frown:

Lastly, I was tagged my Claudine for the five favourite blogs meme but it has taken me a very long time to do this meme as it is really hard to list just five blogs when I do visit heaps and heaps of blogs daily. |-)

  • 2paw - I love visiting Cindy’s blog and read about her knitting, her lovely labradors, and lots of other interesting things. Most of all, her love for green ;)
  • 1morerow - Ann is a very experienced knitter and I love seeing her FOs. She’s a very quick knitter too!!! Her FOs never failed to impress me
  • Knitting Box - Claudine is a really crafty person. She can knits and she can even sew too!! Wish I’m as good as her one day!! :yuck:
  • Tiennie Knits - As I’ve recently picked up sock knitting, I love seeing Tiennie’s beautiful socks. They are always so pretty and so fitting too!!! I wonder why is my 2nd sock so screw up :ouch:
  • Random Knits - I’ve always love visiting Donna’s blog. May it be her cute little bunny, her beatiful and gorgeous dance costumes that she sew for her dearest daughter, or her amazing lace knitting too!!!

Well, that’s it for the five favourite blogs. For those of you who are not listed up there, please do not despair. That doesn’t mean you’re not one of my favourites. If you’re listed on my links page, you are my favourites!!!

Sisters

Sisters

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

“Don’t forget your Sisters,” she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. “They’ll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.”

Remember that ‘Sisters’ mean ALL the women… Your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives. You’ll need other women. Women always do.”

‘What a funny piece of advice!’ the young woman thought. ‘Haven’t I just gotten married? Haven’t I just joined the couple-world? I’m now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!’

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After nearly 50 years of living in this is world, here is what I’ve learned: Time passes. Life happens. Distance separates. Children grow up. Jobs come and go. Love waxes and wanes. Men don’t do what sisters do. Hearts break. Parents die. Careers end.

BUT…… Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley’s rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley’s end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunts, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life.

The world wouldn’t be the same without those women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

Thanks for always being there for me, thanks for always listening to me, thanks for the shoulder for me to cry on, thanks for all the hugs, thanks for all the love, and thanks for everything. Just to let you know that you will always have a special place in my heart.

Not As Smart As We Think We Are

Received the following from a lady in my office. I think it’s pretty hillarious!!

Why females should avoid girls night out after they are married.

The other night I was invited out for a night with “the girls”.

I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, “I promise.”

Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easy.

Around 3:00 am, a bit loaded, I headed for home. Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started up and cuckooed 3 times.

Quickly, realizing my husband would wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution, in order to escape a possible conflict with him.

(Even when totally smashed…3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos totals 12 cuckoos = midnight.)

The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in and I told him “midnight”. He didn’t seem upset at all.

Whew! Got away with that one! Then he said, “We need a new cuckoo clock.”

When I asked him why, he said, “Well, last night our clock cuckooed 3 times, then said, “Oh shit”, cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another 3 times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted.”
