My Favourite Things

I think I better do a quick recap of the past few weeks before I delay them any further  . As always, I like to keep things simple and love the acronym K.I.S.S. (keep it short and simple). As I’ve mentioned before, my parents in law came to visit us a few weeks ago but they’re already back in China now. Anyway, we did eat out pretty often, taking them to nice places and etc. but I did cooked a lot of meals too as they preferred home cook meals. I didn’t managed to take photos of every single meals I cooked but this particular dish is the one I’m most proud of as it was my first time cooking it and I got the thumbs up from everyone :) .

Char Siew

This has always been one of my favourite dishes. Char Siew, which is also known as BBQ Pork. However, I’m very fussy with my Char Siew. I don’t like those red coloured types of BBQ pork that some restaurant sells. I only like them when they’re sort of caramelised and a little burnt. Thinking about this makes me drool now  .

Food aside, it’s been great spending time together with everyone. Too bad they always seem so short though. Oh well, at least I always have my doggies to keep me company. Don’t you think Coco looks like a cuddly teddy bear?

Our Little Teddy Bear

Lastly, every year, towards the end of the year, Bendigo Woollen Mills have a sale on most of their yarns. I’d be a fool if I didn’t get my hands of some of their gorgeous yarns!!!!!

End of the Year Bendigo Haul

Yes, that is indeed a full basket of yarn :) . Shhhh…don’t tell my DH  .

Yummy Goodness

I received a newsletter this morning from Nine West and they’re having a sale!! 30-50% off selected styles!! I told my colleague and she said, “No more shoes for you Michelle!! You have enough shoes!!!” Seriously, a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes!!

Oh well, here’s one of my favourite pair of ankle boots. Got them a few years ago from China and they’re still in pretty good condition. I miss shopping there. Everything is so cheap and they have so many varieties too compare to here.

Blue Ankle Boots

These are my contribution to my stash for the past few months. Honesty, I’ve been really good. They were all bought during sale so I did save some $$$$ . I’ve even started two new projects using these yarns.

Yummy Yarns

In the photo above, I’ve got (not in order):

  • Cleckheaton Country Silk 8 Ply x 10
  • Moda Vera Harmony x 8
  • Moda Vera Fauna x 3 (Pink)
  • Moda Vera Fauna x 3 (Orange/Blue/Yellow)
  • Moda Vera Kid Mohair Blend x 3 (Yellow)
  • Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 10 Ply x 2 (Ghost)
  • Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 10 Ply x 2 (Leaf)
  • Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 10 Ply x 2 (Autumn Glow)

Lastly, my sister has been pestering me to cook ABC Soup, which I eventually did. We had this for dinner yesterday and today as I cooked up a big pot and she reckons it’s not enough??

ABC Soup

Feli asked for the recipe so here it it

Ingredients:
4 chicken wings (you can use chicken frames as well)
3 tomatoes
3 carrots
3 potatoes
2 onions
1 packet of the salted vegetable
Water (enough to cover all the ingredients)
Salt and pepper to taste (I like to use black pepper)

Method:
Cut all the vegetables into wedges and put everything into the pot
Make sure there’s enough water to cover all the ingredients
Put to boil on medium heat for 4 hours (or 1.5 hours if using pressure cooker)

I can only eat the same meal twice. I’d refused to eat the same thing over and over again more than twice. I’ll get sick of it. I know some people won’t mind but definitely not me. How many times can you eat the same thing over and over again?

My Favourite Colour

Sometimes I wonder why do I always tend to buy things in a pink? Well, of course the first excuse would be because it’s my favourite colours. There are times when I try to avoid buying things in pink, let’s say for example, a blouse. Usually the shop would have the same blouse in at least a few colours, giving us more option. Well, among all the options, somehow, pink always look nicer on me. Therefore, it’s pretty obvious I would choose the pink blouse unintentionally  . Does that ever happen to you?

Patons Zhivago

Patons Soft Haze

I went to Spotlight last Saturday and saw they have heaps of yarns in the bargain racks. Without much hesitation, I bought a pack of Patons Zhivago and Patons Soft Haze. Think I’m going to knit a Clapotis with the Zhivago. Not too sure what I should knit with the Soft Haze. Do you have any recommendation?

Nine West - Medium Pink

Anyway, here’s a pretty pair of pink shoes that I absolutely adore because it’s just so feminine and gorgeous. However, I hardly wore this. I have this for a few years now and I think I’ve worn it less than 10 times? Well, if you look at the heel, it’s quite tall, maybe about 4 inch or even more (I didn’t measure)? Therefore, it’s pretty hard to walk in them. I only wear them to dinners when there isn’t much walking!!

Lastly, here’s a funny joke that I came across in Ravelry:

A highway patrolman pulled alongside a speeding car on the freeway. Glancing at the car, he was astounded to see that the blonde behind the wheel was knitting! Realizing that she was oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, the trooper cranked down his window, turned on his bullhorn and yelled, “PULL OVER!”

“NO!” the blonde yelled back, “IT’S A SCARF!”

I hope that you’re laughing really hard at this point, if not, maybe you should learn how to knit?
