Eight Months Of Hibernation

After eight long months of hibernation, I finally finished Leo during the Easter break last week. I actually finished knitting all the pieces since July 2007. I told myself, Leo has been an UFO long enough. It’s time to be a FO. Therefore, I took the opportunity of the Easter weekend and I finished seaming the whole sweater!! I was so happy when it’s done that I wore it and dance around the house!! I wish Tian’s home so that he can try it on. Oh well.

Blueberry Leo

Pattern: Leo
Yarn: 2.5 balls of Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 5 Ply (Blueberry)
Needles: 3.5 mm and 4 mm

Secondly, if you remember, I bought about 10 skeins of Noro Silk Garden eight months ago as well. I only started knitting with it last week too. It’s a birthday present for my Mum. Actually, it’s Mum’s birthday today. So…Happy Birthday Mum!!! Here’s a sneak peak of the project that I’m working on. I hope my Mum will like it!!

Slacker

Ooops. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I last post anything on my blog. I’m such a slacked!! However, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been knitting. I’m just lazy taking pictures and blogging about it. Hahahaha.

Anyway, here’s the 1st FO. I bought the yarns from Knitting Inspirations sometime last year and finally it has been knitted up into a Beret. Just in time for winter!! I actually knitted this beret when I just came back from my KL trip. My hands were so itching to knit!! This only took me two days and I was just so happy to get back into my knitting mojo!! By the way, I modified the pattern so that I can knit it in the round because I hate seaming!!

Tweed Beret

Pattern: Tweed Beret from Jo Sharp Knit Issue 3
Yarn: 1.5 balls Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed
Needles: 4.5 mm and 5 mm

The 2nd FO is actually my first pair of knitted mittens/gloves that I knitted sometime last year!!! Hahahahaha. Totally forgot to blog about but better late than never I say!! Anyway, I used some leftover yarns and knitted the hand/wrist warmers from the “Last-Minute Knitted Gifts” book. This was a really easy knit. I needed a pair of these fingerless gloves because the air-con in my office is freezing cold!! Now I can keep my hands and fingers toasty warm

Pink Hand/Wrist Warmers

Pattern: Hand/Wrist Warmers from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts book
Yarn: 1 ball of Spotlight Basics 8 ply Pure Wool
Needles: 4 mm

Last FO for the day is Wisp. I used thicker yarn and bigger needles as I want this to be a wrap/stole instead. This is a wedding gift for my colleague who will be getting married this April 5th. Purple is her favourite colour and I hope that she will like this present. It is a very simple mindless knitting. I ignore the eyelets as I didn’t need the buttons. Halfway through, I was getting a bit sick of the pattern. Hahahaha. I’m glad it’s finish now!!!

Wisp

Pattern: Wisp
Yarn: 1 cone of ColourMart Silk 32/120NM DK weight (Lavender)
Needles: 6 mm

Well well well…3 FOs in a post. I guess I’m not really a slacker after all?? By the way, in the last photo, can you see that big fat butt???

Breakaway

I finally managed to take a break and went back to Kuala Lumpur with Tian. Although it was only a short trip of 10 days, I really needed it. Haven’t taken any break from work for quite a few months already and I was working during Christmas too. It is definitely a well deserved break. It is even better when I get to go back to visit my family, together with Tian.

KL Trip

We both had such a fantastic time in KL!! Good food, good shopping, lots of naps and long hours of sleeping time, and of course, getting to spend quality time together with family. What a bliss!! Also, I finally picked up my dresses. Woot woot!! Everything’s perfect!! Love it!! Can’t show you the pics now. So you’ll just have to be patient and wait till after April

As for knitting, not much has been done. Hopefully I’ll have some updates in the next week or so.

Flower From Tian

It was Valentine’s Day yesterday and as usual, I do not expect anything from my other half because we have never ever celebrated Valentine’s Day before. He reckons it’s over-rated and too commercialised.

Boy oh boy was I surprised when I reach home after work. For the first time ever, Tian bought me a flower on Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day Flower

I didn’t know whether I should laugh or cry

Mini Ribbed Lace Bolera

This is a really quick knit  . I finished it in just two days time. However, I didn’t realised that I will not have enough yarn and I don’t plan on buying an extra ball just to finish the top to the recommended measurements because, firstly, these 2 balls of yarns were bought many moons ago, so I might not be able to find the same yarn in the same dye lot and secondly, I’m on a yarn diet. I haven’t bought any yarns since December last year and I intend to keep it that way, knitting from my stash. Therefore, the end result is that the bolero isn’t as long as the original version. Mine’s really like a mini version.

Pattern: Ribbed Lace Bolero
Yarn: 2 balls of Spotlight Dashing in White
Needles: 5 mm and 6 mm
